The MK 21 is a wide cardioid capsule for the Colette series with consistent polar response across the frequency range. The directivity is in between that of an omnidirectional and a cardioid. The low-frequency response is better than that of a cardioid capsule and the proximity effect is less pronounced. It is ideal both as a spot soloist microphone placed slightly closer than with a cardioid or main microphone in near-coincident (30 cm spacing +/-45° or M/S stereo setups) Although normal production tolerances are very close, Schoeps can provide specially matched capsule pairs for a small extra charge. Standard finish is Matte Grey, Nickel and Chromagreen are available on request. Specifications shown refer to the capsule used in combination with the CMC6 xt preamplifier.
