SPS422

Common name: SoundField SPS422

Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage

The SPS422 uses the same principles as the MKV system to produce a mono and truly phase coherent stereo output from the ‘Single Point Source’ microphone. The bargraph display accurately monitors the output levels of the microphone system in either Left/Right or Mid/Side mode. The SPS422 can also produce Mid/Side signals for later decoding using a Mid/Side decoder. The Polar Pattern and Width controls allow the selection of any polar pattern from omni through all cardioids to a figure-of-8 and at any angle from 0° to 180°. The microphone is widely used for Ambisonic recording too. The final signal output is 0 dB. The suffix B version is a newer version that incorporates B-format outputs for surround sound.
