E49

Common name: Soundelux E49

Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage

The E49 is a large 1″ diaphragm microphone that recreates the original 1952 U49 but adds a number of improvements. The head grille replicates the mechanical and acoustic qualities of the original but a Soundelux SteadyState fixed bias tube amplifier is used. The transformer output is retained to keep IM distortion low and give improved linearity in low and mid frequency bands. The Soundelux K47 capsule and electronics are individually shock mounted. The polar pattern is continuously variable at the PSU but an internal switch allows cardioid only use for close miking use and an even lower noise floor.
