The ECM-88 uses a dual-diaphragm design to give exceptional performance in terms of cable borne and background noise, and also to make it impervious to moisture. It has good sensitivity, very low self-noise and a near-perfect omni response. It can be used in conjunction with the DC78 powering barrel – phantom or internal battery power – or alone with Sony wireless microphone transmitters.
