Common name: Sony C-37A
The C-37A was the first Japanese capacitor microphone, introduced in the 1950s, and using a Sony-designed capsule. This has a 6micron Mylar diaphragm and a 0.3micron gold sputtering. The capsule is approximately 25mm and is a single diaphragm design which uses a mechanical shutter to give it an optional directional characteristic. Output impedance was sometimes fixed at 200ohm s but switchable 50/250 ohm versions exist. The vacuum tube is a 6AU6 in cathode follower mode.
