Common name: Sennheiser MKH 8020

Production Status: In production

The MKH 8020 is a third-generation RF condenser microphone using the well-proven symmetrical capsule design. The electronics are packaged into a very short body which has an additional XLR connector section (MZX8000). This can be remoted using an intermediate cable. Alternatively, a range of stands, extension tubes and other mounts with the proprietary connector can be used. The frequency response extends to 60kHz (rising 6dB at 25kHz and then falling to 0dB). The push-pull capsules have inherently low distortion and, being low-impedance capacitor types, the electronics can use low-noise bipolar transistors rather than FETs. The output is transformerless.
