Common name: Schoeps VST 62 IU

Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage

The VST 62 IU is a single microphone preamplifier body for pairs of Colette capsules. An optional KCY active cable or an RCY active extension tube is required along with two Colette microphone capsules chosen for the intended recording technique. The capsules are mounted onto the forward end of the cable or extension tube. The other end of the cable, or the cable which exits from the extension tube, is then connected to the VST 62 amplifier. The system is capable of XY, MS, ORTF or AB (up to 50 cm) stereo configurations depending on capsules used. Depending on the stereo setup used, the XLR-5M output of the VST 62 carries either the left and right or the Mid and Side signals. The VST 62 is 12-48 V phantom powered and has a balanced output but it can also operate into an unbalanced input with no transformer required and with no loss in signal level. For this purpose a powering unit with decoupling capacitors is required.
