The CMD 2U is a digital microphone preamplifier that can be used with the Colette capsule series and accessories. It connects to AES 42-2001 compatible inputs where a digital signal is required in place of the analogue CMC6, microphone amplifiers. With impedance matched cabling the drive capability is 400 m. The preamplifier operates in asynchronous mode and can deliver sample rates from of 44.1 kHz, 48 kHz, 88.2 kHz, 96 kHz, 176.4 kHz and 192 kHz. Word length is 24 bit and maximum sound pressure level range is 15 dB SPL to 130 dB SPL without gain adjustment. The dynamic range is effectively 115 dB-A weighted or 103 dB CCIR, quasi-peak. It is digital phantom powered (DDP) via the optional PSD 2U A powering box. The CMD 2U is ideal for music recording as well as for ENG an conference applications.
