CSS-5

Common name: Sanken CSS-5

Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage

The CSS-5 is a shotgun condenser microphone with three different operational settings: mono, Normal Stereo and Wide Stereo. It offers excellent mono compatibility where the mono and the stereo phantom centre have the same sound. It also has strong rear rejection at 180 degree even at low frequencies. In mono mode precise directivity for front sound sources is maintained over a wide frequency range. In Normal mode the stereo angle pickup is 120 degrees. In Wide mode it picks up a deeper sound field of 140 degrees for sound effects and environmental information where dialogue will be added at a later date. Includes vinyl case.
