SF-12

Common name: Royer Labs SF-12

Production Status: In production

The SF-12 is a dual figure-of-8 stereo coincident ribbon velocity microphone with fixed transducers. It provides optimal stereo separation and imaging without any audible diffraction or resonance. The two matched ribbons are placed one above the other angled at 45° from the centre in a Blumlein setup. Frequency response is largely independent of the angle of incidence resulting in a very little off-axis colouration. The ribbons are 1.8 micron thick providing excellent transient response. The SF-12 is ideal for orchestral, drum kits, piano, horn sections, string sections, acoustic and electric guitars, percussion, brass and woodwinds, harp and ambient recording. The SF-12 can also be used as two individual mono microphones. Includes XLR-5 to two XLR-2 cable, microphone sock and wooden case.
