The Red Type B is a “bottle style” microphone preamplifier using lollipop-style interchangeable capsules. It was manufactured by Blue Microphones and sold by Red Microphones between approximately 2005 and 2008. The electronics are Class A discrete solid state. The standard capsule has a large diaphragm 6 micron gold-sputtered mylar diaphragm. A range of nine interchangeable capsules are available. B0 large diaphragm cardioid (Elam 251), B1 small diaphragm cardioid (AKG CK1), B2 large diaphragm figure 8 (RCA 44), B3 medium diaphragm cardioid (NeumannTLM170), B4 small diaphragm omni (Neumann M50), B5 large diaphragm omni (Gefell M55k), B6 large diaphragm cardioid (AKG C12), B7 large diaphragm cardioid (Neumann U47). Includes high-definition microphone cable and shock-mount.
