The SRM-1 is a stereo ribbon microphone. Released in September 2019, it offers a linear response with a smooth top end, gently tapering off. The size and weight have been kept to a minimum to allow for easy, safe placement. The included shockmount screws on the mic for a firm, secure hold with good isolation from microphone stand transmitted noise. Each channel has a symmetrical bi-directional polar pattern with identical front and back responses. The ribbon motor is a proprietary design and the output transformer wound to NoHype audio specifications allowing the output impedance to be around 250 Ohms nominal (measured between pins 2 and 3). Signal to noise ratio is adequate for up to mid-distance work, as most mid to high end ribbons allow, or longer distance if the overall SPL is high enough. The SERM-1 is ideal for drums overheads, room ambience and as a main stereo pair in X/Y or M/S stereo setups. Includes EU-made 5-meter Sommer/Neutrik splitter cable (5 pin to 2 x 3 pin) / extension cable, soft padded protection bag and shockount. Ribbon motor QC, final assembly and testing are performed in NoHype Audio workshop in Belgium.
