The Neumann MM 3 measurement microphone manufactured from 1954 to 1966 replaced the MM 2 model.  The microphone body is shorter that the previous MM 2 and used an amplifier circuit with a Telefunken AC 701 k tube. A long neck connects the capsule to the microphone body to avoid sound field perturbation and reflections. The calibrated MM 3 small 10 mm aluminium diaphragm pressure capsule is placed at the neck’s top. The MM 3 uses the same PSU and cables as the M 49 and M 50 microphones. A pistonphone calibration machine was manufactured for measurement microphone calibration. The overall specifications are the same of the MM 2. The frequency response was 30 -16,000 Hz +/- 1 dB.
