KMF 4 i mt

Common name: Neumann KMF 4 i mt

Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage

The KMF 4 i mt is an innovative miniaturized condenser microphone developed by Georg Neumann GmbH in 1982 and manufactured until 1988. A new 17 mm diameter KK 4 cardioid capsule was designed using MCF (Pe/G) diaphragms. The microphone was engineered for stage and TV productions with its impedance converter (amplifier) connected by wire to the sound transducer using a cable length up to 5 meters. The directional pattern is cardioid allowing for longer distance placement compared to conventional ominidirectional capsules, commonly used for similar purposes. The amplifier housing is cylindrical and similar to the KM series of microphones. The KMF 4 i belongs the fet 80 series. The system was available in dark matt and with XLR-3 connector only. By special request the KMF 4 was available with Tuchel / Binder 3-pin connector. Several helpful accessories were available, like the MF 2 / SG 8 table stand kit, the SG 8 for fish-pole mounting and the  MNV 8 auditorium tilting hanger. Battery operation was possible in place of phantom powering.
