D-01

Common name: Neumann D-01

Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage

The D-01 is a revolutionary digital microphone that uses a special Neumann-developed A/D converter directly behind the capsule interface to deliver a 28 bit signal with a S/N ratio of >130 dBA. Digital processing within the microphone head permits polar pattern selection, low-cut, pre-attenuation etc. The signal output conforms to the AES 42-2001 data format and the microphone can operate synchronously with any equipment supporting this protocol with sample rates up to 96 kHz. The optional DMI-2 digital interface supports up to 2 D-01 microphones and sample rates up to 192 kHz.
