C716

Common name: Josephson Engineering C716

Production Status: In production

The C716 is a studio microphone with a dual (5 micron evaporated gold) diaphragm capsule. The head grille is a metal foam structure which avoids unnecessary structural elements and randomises any internal reflections that might colour the sound. The impedance converter is a Class A FET with active balanced output drive using discrete large-geometry devices. Capsule bias is derived from a high voltage linear supply that avoids digital devices or oscillators for very low noise. The capsule is internally shock-mounted.
