DO56
Common name: Electro-Voice DO56
Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage
The DO56 is an omnidirectional dynamic microphone. It provides very low sensitivity to mechanical shock thanks to an internal isolation system using shock rings that hold the microphone components. The main acoustic body cavity is also isolated from the dynamic capsule element and decoupled from the rest of the case. The isolation rings are made of butyl rubber acting as a spring as well as converting shock energy into heat. The grill screen is made of Memraflex, capable of bouncing back to keep its shape. The DO56 frequency response is tailored for close pickup with low frequency response slowly rolling off below 200 Hz and reaching -8 dB at 50 Hz. The diaphragm is the exclusive ElectroVoice Acoustalloy providing a smooth frequency response while being insensitive to high humidity, extreme temperatures and corrosion resistant. The high-density Acoustifoam pop filter helps taming excessive sibilance and plosive noise while protecting the diaphragm from dust and magnetic particles. The microphone is designed for be comfortably handheld when used by vocalists on stage, for Television work, interviews, broadcasts and commentary applications. Includes 4.6 metre (15 ft.) 2-conductor shielded rubber-jacketed broadcast type cable, model 312B stand adapter and protective vinyl carrying pouch. The DO56L features a longer 292 mm (11.5 inches) handle compared to the 159 mm (6.25 inches) of the standard version.
