Common name: Electro-Voice 667A

Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage

The 66A7 is a lightweight and easy to manoeuvre cardioid broadcast microphone designed for boom mounting in broadcasting and recording applications. It features a specially designed shock mount providing isolation from mechanical noise and an Acoustifoam windscreen to eliminate air motion noise. These are removable for service or replacement. It has very low sensitivity to hum allowing use close to AC lines and lights. The 667A is equipped with a programming panel controlling a passive equaliser to provide six different frequency response curves. The rejection of the cardioid pattern is symmetrical in all planes thanks to the patented ElectroVoice Variable-D system. This uses a an identical pair of tubes connected to the back of the diaphragm whose length varies inversely with sound frequency resulting in a phase out unwanted sound. The microphone employs an exclusive ElectroVoice non metallic Acoustalloy diaphragm providing a smooth response over a wide frequency range while being immune to high humidity, corrosion and mechanical shocks. The impedance can be switched between 50, 150 and 250 ohm via a pin located at the back of the case. Includes 20-foot, 3 conductor, shielded cable.
