Common name: Electro-Voice 660

Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage

The 660 is a super-cardioid dynamic microphone featuring the ElectroVoice patented Variable-D principle. Thanks to this technique the EV660 exhibits no proximity effect even when used up close. The microphone employs an exclusive ElectroVoice non metallic Acoustalloy diaphragm providing a smooth response over a wide frequency range while being immune to high humidity, corrosion and mechanical shocks. The polar response is uniform with little or no off-axis coloration. The microphone is built with a nesting technique in order to provide a solid, shock resistant structure. The case is made of pressure cast zinc with chrome plating. The 660 can be used balanced or unbalanced by changing wires positions within the connector. Includes model 358 microphone stand holder and 4.6 metre (15 foot) two-conductor, shielded, vinyl jacketed cable. The 660 is finished in satin grey while the 660E has a non-reflecting grey finish.
