Common name: Electro-Voice 631

Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage

The ElectroVoice 631 is an omnidirectional handheld dynamic microphone designed for close pickup in public address and semi-professional recording applications. Although designed for handheld use it can also be placed on stand or a table for music pickup. The microphone features a sealed on/off switch located inside the body with a removable magnetic actuator placed outside. The EV63 features an exclusive non-metallic ElectroVoice Acoustalloy diaphragm that allows for a wider and more balanced frequency response while being resistant to temperature extremes, corrosion and mechanical shock. The microphone internal parts are nested together for maximum ruggedness while an internal shock absorber greatly reduces cable noise pickup. The microphone is also equipped with an integral four-stage pop and dust filter to minimise wind and plosive noise. It is finished in satin chrome or matte satin nickel. The EV631 included the model 310 stand mount clamp and was available in low or high impedance versions.
