The SR77 is a cardioid studio microphone which is often used in the field, being popular with rock concert tapers. The SR77 is well-liked for percussion, stringed instruments and voice, and has a pickup pattern that is open and natural. Even at 90° it is flatter than most mics are on-axis. It has no presence peak, the bass proximity effect is mild, and handling noise is low. The SR30 is identical.
