The SMX-30 is a switchable stereo/mono video condenser microphone. It is designed to produce excellent sound quality with DSLR and other compact cameras. It uses the same capsule elements as the 250 series shotgun microphones. When set to mono it offers a super cardioid shotgun polar pattern that allows to focus on sounds in front of the camera while when set to stereo it uses two cardioid elements spaced 120° apart to provide natural and immersive stereo sound. The SMX-30 features a +20dB gain switch, a -10dB attenuation pad and a low-cut filter to reduce low frequency noise. The microphone is powered by two AA batteries that last up to 24 hours. The SMX-30 also features an integrated shock absorbing mount to isolate the microphone from the camera motor. The microphone includes a standard size shoe and a 1/4″-20 thread for mounting to boom-poles or other accessories as well as a custom detachable foam windscreen.
