The MONDO is a dynamic cardioid kick drum microphone with a very aggressive frequency contour needing very little EQ. The MONDO is die cast from zinc, with a brass and steel grill assembly with no plastic parts. Aesthetically, each mic features a Cabernet Wine-Red finish, accented with polished nickel trim and a black grill assembly. The MONDO features internal shock-mounting on the capsule assembly to prevent the transmission of unwanted physical vibrations. The MONDO features a pair of machined insets on the barrel of the microphone body. These insets allow the O-rings of the SSM shock mount to “lock” the mic into place, which prevents microphone shifting and slippage. The O-rings are manufactured using a custom Ethylene Propylene formula that provides enormous resistance to breakage, resistance to surface nicks and remains supple and effective even against dry, hot temperatures.
