CMC 68 U
Common name: Schoeps CMC 68 U
Production Status: In production
The CMC 68 U is a small diaphragm figure-of-eight condenser microphone. The capsule is a pure pressure gradient receiver and difficult to manufacture as the pressure gradient is very low. It has a nearly frequency-independent polar pattern, the sound pickup is perpendicular to the microphone’s axis (lateral). The MK 8 capsule exhibit excellent frequency response with very excellent polar pattern consistency, high symmetry and low background noise. Care should be taken and an elastic suspension used as it is susceptible to vibration noise and wind It is ideal for M/S, double and Blumlein stereo setups in film sound and music recording. The microphone amplifier CMC 6 U and the capsule MK 8 form part of a modular microphone which permits the insertion of RC tubes or KC cables as well as other electronically active accessories between capsule and amplifier allowing for miniaturisation. The CMC 6U Amplifier offers a symmetrical, transformer-less, direct-coupled Class A output stage with low impedance, distortion, and interference. It is designed for standard 48 and 12 V phantom powering. Its circuitry recognises the supply voltage and adjusts itself automatically. Includes wooden box, SG 20 stand mount clamp and B 5 D windscreen. Matched pairs are available although normal production tolerances are very close. Custom colours are available on request. It is also available as compact condenser microphone CCM 8.
