The CMC 65 is a small diaphragm multi-pattern condenser microphone. It is mechanically switched between omnidirectional and cardioid polar patterns. The single diaphragm MK 5 capsule is a pure pressure transducer in the omnidirectional setting with a constant frequency response at the low end and a pure pressure gradient transducer in the cardioid setting. It provides the same quality as the MK 2S and MK 4 capsules with a similar frequency and polar response. It is a multi-purpose microphone and can be used in most recording scenarios. In the cardioid setting the MK 5 maintains its directivity even at the lowest frequencies, and has high frequency response up to 20 kHz. In addition, the MK 5 has excellent low-frequency response in the omnidirectional setting along with low sensitivity toward wind and pop noise. The microphone amplifier CMC 6 U and the capsule MK 5 form part of a modular microphone which permits the insertion of RC tubes or KC cables as well as other electronically active accessories between capsule and amplifier allowing for miniaturisation. It is also available as the compact condenser microphone CCM 5.
