CMC 641 S
Common name: Schoeps CMC 641 S
Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage
The CMC 641 S is a small diaphragm super-cardioid condenser microphone, specially designed for the pickup of close speech. It is mainly used for speech at close range ( 20 cm or less) when clarity and intelligibility of the spoken word is the primary requirement. Even speech pickup at moderate distances can sound thin and bright. It has a bass roll-off, similar to CMC 64 S, but with greater directivity. The MK 41 S capsule attenuates reverberant sound and is less prone to feedback due to great directivity. The rolloff of its low-frequency response is offset by proximity effect at close working distances. This capsule is often included in fixed installations. The microphone amplifier CMC 6 U and the capsule MK 41 S form part of a modular microphone which permits the insertion of RC tubes or KC cables as well as other electronically active accessories between capsule and amplifier allowing for miniaturisation. The CMC 6U Amplifier offers a symmetrical, transformer-less, direct-coupled Class A output stage with low impedance, distortion, and interference. It is designed for standard 48 and 12 V phantom powering. Its circuitry recognises the supply voltage and adjusts itself automatically. Includes wooden box, SG 20 stand mount clamp and B 5 D windscreen. The CMC 641 S is also available as the compact condenser microphone CCM 41S.
