MV 690

Common name: Microtech Gefell MV690

Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage

The MV 690 microphone amplifier was produced in 1969 as a successor for the vacuum tube M 582 and was part of the SMS (Studio Microphone System) 70 series. It is a transformer coupled FET transistor microphone body (no feedback circuit) developed by Siegfried Thiersch then development engineer at Gefell (RTF VEB MTG) in cooperation with the RFZ Berlin (Rundfunktechnisches Zentralamt Berlin). The MV690 can use several capsules: M 93, M 69, M 70, M 71, M 72, M 73, M 79, and M 94. It can be powered by the N 690, N 691 or N 692 power supply units via a C61 7-pin cable. Specifications shown refer to the M58/M93 omnidirectional capsule. The rdio version of the MV690 is called M702.
