M 8S

The M 8S is the short, screw mount version of the bayonet mount M 8 capsule. It is a large diaphragm bidirectional (Figure of eight) capsule produced between 1956 and 1970. It has a single membrane and brass backplate, open on both sides to achieve its bidirectional polar response mechanically rather than electrically. The S version was designed for use with the CMV 551, 561, 562, 563, and 564 microphone amplifiers.
