KEM 970
Common name: Microtech Gefell KEM 970
Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage
The KEM 970 is a cardioid plane microphone with multiple capsules and a broad cardioid pattern to cover wide or moving sound sources. It uses the small diaphragm ceramic capsules initially developed for the M300. The microphone directional characteristics are largely independent of frequency. On the horizontal axis it behaves like a cardioid microphone while on the vertical axis it resembles a shotgun microphone. It is ideal for positioning on edges or ends of the stage, at a presenter or speaker’s desk, as a table microphone, for radio and TV productions, and video conferencing. It has a switchable 10 dB and 20 dB attenuation pad and -10 dB roll-off at 90 Hz. The KEM 970 is powered by its power supply unit that also provides a line level output. It was developed in co-operation with the Institute fur Rundfunktechnik (IRT) in Munich. Includes N970 power supply, C97 S microphone cable with swivel mount and aluminium case.
