C725

Common name: Josephson Engineering C725

Production Status: In production

The C725 is a multi pattern large dual diaphragm condenser microphone using both valve and solid state technology. It features five switchable polar patterns: omnidirectional, sub-cardioid, hyper-cardioid and figure of eight. The power supply provides both pattern selection and a “Warm/Cool” signal path symbolised by a Sun and a Moon. The Sun setting operates at full gain while the ‘Moon” setting introduces a small amount of negative feedback. The circuit uses a single custom low-noise FET for voltage gain and a tube for current gain. The custom nickel-core transformer has independent windings for output and gain control. The capsule is internally shock-mounted and the grille uses Josephson’s aluminium foam to minimise internal reflections. The Power supply uses five separate sections a regulator for the tube and another inside the microphone to maintain stable tube and capsule polarisation voltages with long cables. Includes carrying case, power supply, 12-pin Tuchel to XLR 5-pin microphone cable, power cable and protection sleeve.
