The RE18 is a dynamic super-cardioid microphone featuring ElectroVoice patented Variable-D technique resulting in an uncoloured off-axis sound and very low proximity effect for direct sound when used for close pickup. The interference ducts with precisely calculated opening slots at the rear of the diaphragm provide maximum damping with no sound colouration at 180 degrees off-axis. It is ideal for broadcast, high-quality sound reinforcement, studio recording and handheld for interviews and ENG thanks to its shock isolation system. The capsule and the Variable-D acoustic ports are completely shock isolated from the outer case with butyl rubber rings providing decoupling and mechanical damping by converting shock energy into heat and viscous damping fluid. The RE18 is equipped with a high-density Acoustifoam pop filter to minimise wind, breath and plosive noise. It is smaller than the one used on the RE16 but equally effective. The Memraflex grille is capable of bouncing back to retain its shape while resisting denting. The RE18 is equipped with an exclusive non-metallic ElectroVoice Acoustalloy diaphragm providing a smooth frequency response while being insensitive to high humidity, extreme temperatures and corrosion resistant. It is finished in non-reflecting fawn beige or black. Includes stand clamp and protective pouch.
