The 4090 is an instrument microphone for studio and live recording. It uses a 5.4 mm diameter capsule mounted on a 120 mm tapered body. This allows close positioning near instruments and the high SPL handling is also suited to this purpose. The 4091 is identical except that it has a reduced sensitivity (6 mV/Pa) and increased SPL handling (144 dB SPL), together with a higher equivalent noise (26 dBA), for the highest sound levels.
