The AT4050ST is a stereo side-address condenser microphone with a cardioid and a figure of eight element set up in a mid-side arrangement. These elements are independent to allow for switching between mid-side mode and two internally matrixed stereo modes. The 2 micron vapour deposited gold diaphragms go through a five steps ageing process in order to maintain optimum characteristics over time. The microphone’s transformer-less circuitry eliminates low frequency distortion and provide excellent correlation of high speed transients. The microphone features an integral 80 Hz high pass filter and a 10 dB pad switch. The AT4050ST is aimed at recording, broadcast and sound reinforcement applications. The microphone includes a 5.0 m (16.5′) long, 8-conductor, shielded, vinyl-jacketed stereo cable with 5-pin XLRF-type connector at microphone end and two 3-pin XLRM-type connectors at output end, the AT8449a shock mount for 5/8″-27 threaded stands; microphone dust cover and a protective carrying case. The AT4050ST is certified by the METAlliance (Music Engineering and Technology Alliance).
