Common name: Microtech Gefell M 582
Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage
The M 582 is a miniature (by 1950’s standards) vacuum tube transformer coupled microphone amplifier with interchangeable capsules. It has low self noise and a symmetrical single-stage output. It was produced from 1956 to 1971. The M92 nomenclature designates the ‘Radio” version. The circuit uses an EC92 vacuum tube and can accommodate the M58 omnidirectional, M62 cardioid (far-field) or the rare M14s omnidirectional (far-field) capsules. The capsules have three screw retainers for mounting. Later capsules like the M69, M70 and large diaphragm UM 70 can be used by changing the top connecting element to a screw version like in the later Gefell RFT badged MV 690, MV 691 and MV 692 microphone amplifiers. The M 582 is ideal for all acoustic instruments, including guitars, strings, drums overhead, percussion and room ambience. Additional accessories included the MH 43 or MH 55 microphone holders and the TS 55 table stand. It can be powered by a N 61 or NV 61 power supply unit. The Radio version was called M 92.
