4038

Common name: STC 4038

Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage

The STC 4038 is a ribbon microphone with a bidirectional polar pattern. It features a smooth and wide range frequency response, low distortion and low noise. It is ideal for recording orchestras and all types of instruments. The ribbon is of extremely low mass, providing exceptionally good transient response. The toroidal transformer is magnetically shielded with a reduction of up to 40 dB in the response to stray disturbing magnetic fields. The microphone case is made of heavy gauge perforated brass for protection. The shape of the case also contributes to its acoustic performance. The 4038 is manufactured by agreement with the BBC.
