The ORTF is a large dual capsule, dual diaphragm condenser microphone. The diaphragms are made of 3 micron thin polyethylene terephthalate film. The capsules are 170 mm apart and positioned at an angle of 110 degrees. Besides ORTF stereo recordings the capsules polar patterns can also be switched between cardioid, wide cardioid, omnidirectional and figure of eight. The capsules are heated to allow operation in diverse outdoor conditions and undergo a special ageing process to guarantee long term stability. The microphone has a Class A transformer-less design, has very low self noise and high sound pressure level capabilities. It is ideal as a main microphone for recording orchestras, camber ensembles, jazz concerts as well as in radio and television broadcast applications. Includes shock-mount, 0.5 metre 5-pin XLR to two 3-pin XLR breakout cable (longer cables available on request) and wooden box.
