The KEM 975 is a cardioid plane, line array microphone system with multiple capsules. It is ideal for recording sound sources that are very extensive in width and depth or moving sound sources.. It uses eight small gold-sputtered PE membrane capsules of the M300/M21 series. The microphone directional characteristics are largely independent of frequency. On the horizontal axis it behaves like a cardioid microphone while on the vertical axis it has the features of a directional microphone with a pickup pattern of approximately 30 degrees. Due to its length below 800 Hz the response moves from highly directional towards a cardioid pickup pattern. The directionality can then be increased to below 100 Hz by using an optional attachable “Delta Capsule” that forms an equilateral triangle with the two outermost capsules. The KEM 975 has a peak of about 2 dB between 2 kHz and 12 kHz to provide optimal speech intelligibility. It is ideal as a speaker microphone placed on desks and lecterns, for radio and TV productions, video conferencing and music recording. It has a five position level control with settings of -36, -24, -12, 0 + 12 dB. The KEM 970 is powered by its power supply unit that also provides a line level output. It was developed in co-operation with the Institute fur Rundfunktechnik (IRT) in Munich. Includes N975 power supply, C975.1 microphone cable, MH 975 microphone holder and aluminium case.
