Common name: Earthworks Audio PM40

Production Status: In production

The PM40 microphone is a diffuse-field (random incidence) design used in the PianoMic system for close miking of pianos. To allow this it has a very high max SPL. The microphones pick up both direct and reflected sound. Two capsules are fitted with a wide spacing and the rail-mounted array is placed inside a piano close to the strings. Frequency response extends to 40 kHz. A small box provides conversion of two XLR-3 mixer cables to the internally cabled PM40.
