The C720 is a large diaphragm studio microphone with a dual-sided capsule. The polar pattern is fully variable between omni and figure of eight by using the separate outputs and mixing them appropriately. The capsule is protected by an expanded metal foam which avoids internal acoustic reflecting surfaces. The circuitry is Class A FET cascode and the output uses a custom wound Lundahl transformer. The internal high voltage polarisation avoids using a switching oscillator to give very low noise. Both channels require phantom power.
