C-37 FET
Common name: Sony C-37 FET
Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage
The C-37 FET released in 1970 was a solid state update of the earlier C-37 which was the first Japanese capacitor microphone. The capsule is approx 25mm and is a single-diaphragm type. The optional directional response is obtained by using a mechanical shutter. The capsule design for the C37s was original to Sony and used 6micron Mylar sputtered with 0.3micron gold. The C-37FET is powered by an internal 9V battery or an external 9V supply. Output impedance is selectable (50, 250, 600ohms and output level increases to match – 1.29, 2.88, 4.56mv/Pa). The C-37P FET condenser microphone features an -8 dB pad and three types of low-cut filters. The C-37B FETvariant can also be driven by a 006P battery. The C-37P also has an -8 dB pad and multi-mode low-cut function, as well as a 5 kHz high-cut function.
