The SR78 is an exceptional directional microphone. The pickup pattern is smooth and open in the front hemisphere, while the rejection is extraordinary behind 90°. It is a good choice for situations where you want natural sound but need to reject off-axis arrivals. For boom work it is superb. It combines natural sound, very light weight and low handling noise. The SR30/HC is identical.
