Common name: Microtech-Gefell M 14 b
Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage
The M 14 b is a high quality omnidirectional tube condenser microphone for broadcasting and studio recording applications. The circuit is based around a RV 12 P 2000 valve and an M 14 capsule. This is a large PVC diaphragm pressure gradient omnidirectional design first produced in 1950. It was fitted to the M 14, M 14 II, M 14a and M 14b (no gooseneck) compact series microphones. The M 14 s version with a M 18 x 1 threaded screw mount can be used with the M 14, CMV 551, 561, 562 and 563 microphone amplifiers. The M 14 s Spezial can be used with the M 582, M 92a, MV 690, MV 691 and MV 692 microphone amplifiers. Like the M 55 Ks its frequency response is optimised for far-field pickup and can handle higher sound pressure level. In the mid-fifties it was used to record orchestras at the Funkhaus in Berlin. Includes microphone case. Powered by the N 14 power supply unit.
