M 330

Common name: Microtech Gefell M 330

Production Status: In production

The Microtech Gefell M 330 small-diaphragm wide cardioid condenser microphone with a wide and smooth frequency response It features a low-noise hybrid circuit as well as a ceramic capsule. The M 330 has an almost linear frequency over a wide range with a smooth treble boost rising to about 3 dB between 6 and 10 kHz. The bass response is also excellent with a 4dB drop appearing only below 20 Hz. The capsule is ceramic instead of the traditional metal and uses a 16 mm gold-sputtered Mylar diaphragm. The result is a consistent performance regardless of temperature. Furthermore, the triple-layer wire mesh grille protects the capsule at the front and a dual-layer mesh to protect the rear-entry ports. The phantom power uses a DC/DC converter to raise voltages up to 60V allowing for superior SPL handling and super low self-noise. The polarising voltage is provided through an optical coupler that separates the power supply and reduces ripple and spurious interference. The M 330 is designed for studio applications in radio, television broadcasting and films for live performance and recording of instruments, vocals and speech and sound reinforcement in the professional and semiprofessional market also under adverse acoustic conditions such as in churches.
