M216 Stereo

Common name: Telefunken Elektroakustik M216 Stereo

Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage

The M216 Stereo microphone features two large diaphragm capsules stacked one on top of the other. The top capsule can be rotated by 90 degrees and is independently switchable between omnidirectional and bidirectional with intermediate positions resulting in nine different pickup patterns while the bottom one is fixed cardioid. This allows for X/Y and mid-side recording setups. The amplification circuit is the same as the one used in the M16 MKII microphone, based around a NOS General Electric 6072A vacuum tube and an AMI BV-314 output transformer. Includes power supply, microphone cable, wooden microphone box.
