CS-9

Common name: Lucas Engineering CS-9

Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage

The CS-9 is a multi-pattern large diaphragm vacuum tube microphone inspired by the Neumann M49. It features a custom Siegfried Thiersch M7 capsule with a 6 micron aged PVC diaphragm, a Jeff Roberts handmade solid brass grille, a NOS Telefunken Glass tube and a custom AMI/TAB transformer. The CS-9 power supply features two separate outputs for the front and the back diaphragms. By combining the outputs all polar patterns from omnidirectional to figure of eight and all intermediate responses can be obtained. The microphone is finished in patented Lucazite paint for maximum RF rejection. It is also scratch proof and dent proof.
