Common name: Electro-Voice 951

Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage

The 951 is a cardioid microphone equipped with a Bimorph type crystal, sealed against moisture to prevent corrosion. It features the Continuously Variable-D principle, an evolution of the patented Variable-D where uniform rejection of unwanted noise is achieved with two identical slotted tubes coupled to the back of the diaphragm, whose length varies inversely with sound frequency in order to phase out unwanted sound. The Variable-D maintains frequency response characteristics virtually independent of working distance and with no proximity effect. The pop-proof wire mesh grill minimises wind and breath noise. It works with all standard high-impedance inputs. The 951 features an on/off switch in the stand-mounting stud and a die-cast zinc case with satin chrome finish. Includes a 15′ single-conductor shielded cable.
