Common name: Electrovoice 664

Production Status: Discontinued / Vintage

The 664 is a cardioid dynamic microphone with a single moving element designed for public address applications. It it also well suited for home and semi-professional recording applications and sound reinforcement systems. Its cardioid polar response is achieved through three sound entrances located in the back of the diaphragm. This arrangement also provides high resistance to mechanical shock and a lack of proximity effect. The head of the microphone has a pop-proof wire mesh grille to minimise plosives, breath and wind noise. The capsule diaphragm employs an exclusive ElectroVoice non metallic Acoustalloy providing a smooth response over a wide frequency range while being immune to high humidity, corrosion and mechanical shocks. It features an integrated swivelling stand mount adapter. The case is made of pressure cast zinc and the stud houses an on/off switch. The impedance can be changed between high and low by switching wires positions within the connector. Includes stand coupler and 15 ft. two-conductor, shielded cable. The microphone was available in satin chrome or in decorative gold as the model 664G.
