The R84A (A840) is a versatile ribbon microphone that utilizes an element 100 percent larger than other manufacturers’ to produce exceptional headroom and an intimate performance with smooth highs and extended lows. The large ribbon microphone is suitable for a wide range of instruments, including brass, strings, percussion, electric guitar and bass. The ultra-thin (0.00007) low-tension ribbon element of the R84 ensures a quick response, whatever the application. Capable of handling better than 165 dB SPL at higher frequencies, when used on vocals or instruments the R84A offers a performance that is intimate, warm and detailed, yet never harsh. The R84A retains the same sonic character of the R84 but offers an additional 12 dB of output and a stable impedance that allows flexibility when recording quiet sources through any microphone preamplifier.
