Common name: Royer Labs R-121

Production Status: In production

The R-121 is a hand built microphone with a patented offset ribbon transducer element positioned closer to the front (logo) side of the microphone. This arrangement gives the ribbon more room to move within the prime magnetic field while maintaining full frequency response during high SPL recordings. The R-121 has a figure-8 pattern with an output level comparable to a dynamic mic and is ideal for recording electric guitars, brass, woodwinds, horn sections, string sections, voiceovers, percussion instruments, kick drum, drum overheads, choir and orchestras. The R-121 has extremely low residual noise, equal sensitivity from front or back of element, consistent frequency response regardless of distance and its ribbon element is not affected by heat or humidity. The microphone comes with a wooden box and microphone sock. It is also available in matched pairs.
