Common name: Nevaton MC550

Production Status: In production

The MC550 is a stereo/mono large diaphragm condenser microphone. It features a 33 mm dual diaphragm symmetrical transducer providing a stereo field of 180 degrees. Each diaphragm feeds a dedicated amplifier channel. The MC550 is ideal for recording sound sources grouped around the microphone like choir, string ensembles, acoustic guitars and vocals and vocal groups. In mono mode the microphone can have infinite directional patterns between omnidirectional and figure of eight. These can be achieved by combining the two cardioid signals via a mixing console or DAW. The ultra-thin gold-coated diaphragms are made of polyethylene terephthalate film and all capsule undergo a special ageing process to guarantee long term stability. The amplifiers are Class ‘A’  transformer-less designs utilising input transistors hand-selected for minimal noise. The capsule is internally shock-mounted. The microphone body is made of brass with a non reflective dark grey finish on an epoxy base to guarantee durability and a 3 layer metallic grille protects the capsules from electrical and atmospheric interference and contamination from microscopic dust particles. Includes isolation clip, 5-pin XLR to dual 3-pin XLR cable and wooden case.
